Former Employee - Marketing Manager says"Finning has a name for hiring people at full speed, and then letting them go as their knee jerk reaction to any fluctuation in the value of their share. I was told just before joining them: "Don't do it, they are heartless", and...I didn't listen. 4 years later, after my best performance ever in a company I was let go for no reason, exactly what I was told was going to happen before joining. It was not only me, lots of people from Senior VPs, VPs, Managers, Professionals, not Professionals, you name it all out. Some other large companies do it, I know, what is abnormal is Finning's criteria: if you are not part of the political game of your boss or his boss, you become a target. In good times, they will promise you everything to get you hired. When times get thought, Managers ensure their continuity by keeping around their best political friends...you and your family can take a hike! Beware and listen, I didn't do it and I paid for it!!"

Plenty of claims that they are changing, but in my five years with them, the often let positive change initiatives fall by the wayside. Managers protect other managers and employees are left on their own to try and survive. A lot of top down direction with little to no input from actual employees on the front lines (or in the office)"

Management is just an old boys/buddies club taking care of each others self-preservation. One manager will walk employees out the door during layoffs while another manager hands out their bonuses the same day. No training, they fully excpect you to know all of their processes. Others would rather hoard information then share to benefit the customer and company. Bad behaviour is rewarded within the office, very unprofessional with employees yelling highly inappropriate curse words at each other as a joke. While constantly downsizing, disposing of good people and closing branches, the fact is that this ship is sinking while trying to maintain yesteryear's revenues and ideals. 99% of managers are overpaid monkeys, puppets, or actors that report to higher-up clowns, all of these arrogant moguls with absolutely no credibility yet yammer and yap like they do. Where they should inspire, build people and teams we instead learn to tolerate and even pity them as just another tragic part of our Finning existence. They have not and could not perform your job but somehow know what’s best for you and that your performance is constantly lacking. Yes, this aged tyranny still believes in getting the most out of people by overloading with completely unachievable goals then motivating us through guilt, shame, threat, and unbelievably .. still bullying nowadays!! The toxicity and animosity here runs deeper and deeper year over year. Where mental health is declining and destroying people, families, and society, companies that operate like this need to be exposed for their abuse. The techs were ok to work with but the administrative staff was very two faced and cut throat; always trying to trip me up. There was no support from management, basically left to my own devices to figure stuff out. The mangers didn't seem to know what they were doing, if we had a decent manager for a little whlle they didn't last as everything has to be done the old school Finning way, no open box thinking. I was bullied by one of the managers and HR didn't make a big deal about it, I ended up going on stress leave and finding a better job. Worst 5 years of my life."
